Evolv is a new life sciences company that has created a compelling product tested by The University of Texas MD Anderson Center in Houston. The company is launching its product via a direct sales model. This creates an opportunity for you, me and those we know to join as first-movers, ahead of others, before the company actually launches.
Once you learn about Evolv and get excited about the opportunity, I th… Continue

Learners had to do a listening assessment- I decided to allow them to translate their favorite song into Afrikaans, and then come and perform it in class for a mark. This activity included all four learning outcomes and various Assessment standards combined into one lesson- Making mince meat of the demands of NCS !
I do apologise for the quality- I had to use compression software :( Continue

This was one of my status updates on Facebook on Friday afternoon. One of my students responded to it,and it evolved in a debate. The same method can be used in twitter, to getting a stream of thoughts from students on almost every possible topic! It can be used to summarize content, work on a mind map for a assignment, it can also be used in brainstorming for a group project - the possibilities are endless!

To Maggie and community members
I have been working with SAIDE (SA Institute for Distance Education) on developing an open educational resource for distance educators called 'Supporting Distance Learners in the 21st Century', over the last several months. I've just added a short description of the 'Learn Web 2.0 with Maggie' community site as a shining example of how to support learners t… Continue
This blogpost basically records how I try to weave social media into my daily life.....
Quite a few of my teachers have asked me how I get it right to twitter, bookmark, chat, engage in social media and get my work done. I do not always get it right to juggle everything as effectively as I would have liked to, but I have devised a way to slip in all the things that I feel strongly about into my workday in a way that I do not even notice that I am doing it. So I thought I will share it with you.… Continue
